Air India Launches Non-Stop Flights from Bengaluru to Gatwick

Bengaluru will become the sixth Indian city to have nonstop flights to London Gatwick (LGW) airport when Air India announced on Friday that it would begin operating such routes on August 18, 2024.

Air India will increase the number of flights it operates to and from London Gatwick to 17 pairs per week by operating five pairs of flights between Bengaluru and the airport each week. On this trip, the airline will use a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which has 238 seats in Economy and 18 flat beds in Business class.

Flight number AI 177 is scheduled to take off from Bengaluru at 13:05 IST (Indian Standard Time) and arrive in London Gatwick at 19:05 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), according to an Air India press release.

On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, the flight will be in operation. Flight AI 178 is scheduled to depart London Gatwick on the same days at 20:35 GMT and arrive in Bengaluru at 10:50 IST the following day. On Friday, reservations for the flights went live.

At the moment, London Gatwick is connected to four Indian cities by Air India: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi. In addition, the airline has six pairs of flights to and from Birmingham and 31 pairs of flights to London Heathrow each week.
